Solar For Home Use

More and more people are considering solar for home use. If we continue to consume energy at our current
rate, some experts predict that we will run out of fossil fuels within 50 years. So, even if you discount the damage done to the environment by our existing methods of power generation, it is still obvious that we must find alternative energy sources. These are the factors that are driving  a renewed interest in both conservation and
sustainable methods of producing energy.

Solar energy technology has progressed by leaps and bounds over the past twenty years. Unfortunately, the price of a residential solar installation is still not within the reach of many people. Fortunately, if you invest some time in energy conservation, you may lower your energy needs and thus your required production capacity. This would lower the cost of your solar for home use.

Now I’m not suggesting that you turn off all your lights, throw out your washing machine and buy a horse, but conserving a little bit can go a long way. If we all did it,  it would really add up. Before you even install your solar for home use, you could help ease the consumption of fossil fuels and reduce environmental pollution.

One thing you can do to conserve energy is to unplug those appliances that you aren't using all the time.  Your chargers, digital cameras, even your televisions and VCRs should be unplugged at night.  These actually consume energy even when they're off. Many are kept in "stand by" mode or have LEDs that are continuously using energy.  The same goes for your computers, don't just leave them in sleep mode turned them completely off when you go to bed at night.

Appliances are another area where you can conserve energy as you prepare to switch to solar for home use.  Be sure your refrigerator is set between 38 and 42°F and your freezer between zero and 5°F.
Only use your dishwasher when it is full. Use cold water whenever you can in the washing machine and be sure to clean the lint filter in your dryer so it can run efficiently.  If you can afford it, buying new energy efficient appliances.

Practicing energy conservation is a good habit to get into. No matter how plentiful or renewable energy is in the future, there's simply no reason to waste resources.  The sooner you can get in the habit of conserving energy, the sooner  you will have solar for home use.
